Gurdon S. Howe 1903-1984
Gurdon S. Howe was born in Massachusetts in 1903/4 and lived with his wife at Ethel N. Howe at 205 East 69th street in Manhattan, New York in the 1930's and 40's. Listings of his work found around the internet spell his name as either Gurdon or Gurden, but according to census records, it is indeed spelled Gurdon, and certainly not Gordon. He was active in New York as an oil and watercolor painter.
This particular landscape may have been done in Central Park, but it is untitled, and the location is unknown.
